Your Help Needed, Please!

Peggy and I plan on leaving Port St. Lucie this Sunday, June 16 to go to Victoria, Texas.  We figure we have a half day to be a tourist somewhere along the way.  We can't decide between going to Sarasota to see the Ringling Circus Museum or stopping in New Orleans to drive through the French Quarter and see the St. Louis Cathedral there.  Anyone been to either place?  Or is there somewhere else you think we would enjoy?  We would very much appreciate your opinion!
