A Fine Sunday: June 9th, 2013

Our day began with Holy Mass at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Jacksonville.  A former church musician, I always notice the quality of the group leading the congregation in singing and this one was superior.  The priest giving the homily also was tops, very inspirational.  He is a missionary working around the world to bring the Good News to all.  Holy Trinity appears to be a large, multi-cultural, vibrant church.  There was a bake sale at the church entrance which we chose to participate in afterwards.  Yum!

Jax Beach is a short drive from Jacksonville.  "Oh, there's the water!"  "Look at the beautiful beach.  I've never seen sand so white." It was my first time seeing the ocean since February in Hilton Head visiting Peggy.  Once, while leisurely walking the beach, I had spotted a lighthouse on the horizon: "Look, Peggy, there's a lighthouse!"  While I stared, Peggy quipped, "Jan, it's moving."  Guess it was a ship.

Patty and I took a long stroll, pausing to choose shells in the sand or photograph landing seagulls.  Peggy sunbathed on a towel and delved into her latest novel.  Raj and the children jumped in the waves till finally everyone was getting tired.

At home, Patty settled the weary Johnny for a nap while Raj installed a movie for us.  After getting popcorn ready, we viewed an Indian movie, "Three Idiots." It turned out to be one of the most engaging and hilarious comedy/dramas I'd ever seen!  We laughed till the tears came and then we cried at other times.  The Indian countryside was spectacular and I marvel at the beautiful saris on the women.  I fell in love with the hero.  The movie had a surprise ending.  I hardly ever consider a movie one which I would ever watch twice but this one qualified. I plan on checking NetFlix when I get home and watching it again if I can.  Oh - it had subtitles, very helpful if you don't speak Hindi!

Later, everyone hugged everyone and Peggy and I left to go south.  We shall return!
