All the way UP!

We bolstered each other enough to allay all fears of getting too exhausted halfway to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse.  The sign at the entrance promised, "plenty of landings to stop and rest."  So we did it!  Peggy and I climbed all 219 steps to the top!!  It is as tall as a 14-story building!!

First morning view of the Lighthouse

Stopping briefly at all landings, we were refreshed by the breezes coming through the windows and thrilled by the ever-expanding 360-degree view of the land, river, and ocean.

Jan, happy to fulfill a dream

We walked around the top 4 times, locating landmarks.

View of the Lens Room at the tip-top.  We asked the lighthouse guide if we could climb up there, too, and she explained, "No, but you don't want to; it's hot as blazes up there."

Peggy is ecstatic!

I couldn't be more proud of Peggy.  This was a really big deal for her to accomplish because she has had TWO KNEE REPLACEMENT surgeries, the last one in 2012!  Hats off to Peggy!!
