Sun, Rain, Sun: Sanibel, Day 4, Tuesday, 6/17/14

Ah, this is the life!  Get up, get dressed, walk on the beach for an hour and a half!  The weather was beautiful, sunny, the waves were gentle, there was a slight breeze.  However, I had applied sunscreen, SPF 60, as I burn and peel, never tan!  I chose many beautiful shells and enjoyed the antics of the pelicans and ibis birds, not to mention all the families and children.  There were a few impressive sand castles.

Yay, I'm at the Sanibel Library and have successfully transferred my photos this week to their computer! - and actually have a photo on this blog!  (despite my technology deficiencies!!)

The rest of this blog today will be devoted to 'catching up' on the photos since the weekend.

Jan (left) & daughter, Theresa, back to Tennessee again!  We love the mountains in this area of I-75!

The Great State of Georgia!  June 14, 2014, Saturday.

The cool and green mountains of Georgia.  When we reached Valdosta, the terrain started flattening out.

We were in a traffic jam due to a car accident far ahead.  These were roadside signs.  Georgia wants everyone to know: there were peaches, peach jam, a Peach Spa (whatever that is), etc., plus lots of peanuts.  June 14, 2014.

Part of the large Atlanta, Georgia skyline, very impressive!  June 14, 2014.

Jan at the Florida Welcome Center. This was our goal for Saturday, June 14, 2014: reach Florida!  We started looking for hotels and stayed overnight in Lone Oak (White Oak? something Oak), Florida.

Altar at Catholic Church at Gainesville, Florida.

Crucifix over Main Altar.

Almost there!  Over the causeway and we'll be on Sanibel Island!!!

Casa Ybel will be our home for the next week!

First view of the Gulf of Mexico from our lanai at Casa Ybel.

Path to the beach, just through the lawn.

Fabulous beach, nearly paved with shells!

There are many Sea Turtle nests roped off.  Sea Turtles is the reason there are no street lights or beach lights allowed on Sanibel Island.

I'm thrilled to be able to use the local library's computer, but my time is nearly over.  Theresa and I have no more plans today except for walking the beach for a while.  Hope to visit the library again tomorrow!
