Hard Freeze at Home, Heading South Again!

Though my nose rebels against the sudden cold, the hard freeze in the yard was quite lovely, even shimmery, the last two mornings. At last, Fall has surrendered and let Winter have its way.  I've got a new grandbaby boy whom I must meet!  So today I'm happily packing, checking weather at my destination, suspending newspaper and mail, watering indoor plants, arranging for my house sitter's services, etc.

There's something about "the day before" a big trip that gives me a lot of energy.  I've made a list of tasks and am crossing off items as the day progresses.  ALL of my big trips are planned months in advance.  Then, whatever appointments I have to make can easily avoid the trip 'window.'  I spent most of yesterday cancelling and rescheduling all my plans for next week.

This trip is totally unplanned.  I decided yesterday to leave tomorrow.  Usually, if I was not expected to help care for one of my daughters and the new baby, I'd wait a few weeks till they were settled.  I've ditched those plans due to my daughter and her husband deciding to move - on December 1st - hundreds of miles and hours away - in the other direction from me - to keep the family together.

Tomorrow, it's "on the road again."  Monday, I'll reveal my destination and you can adore the new baby with me.  I've seen his photos and know he's the most beautiful angel baby God has ever created!  Of course, I had to go on a buying spree and am now equipped with lots of "onesies" and a special Christmas surprise for the little one.  FYI: he's my 19th grandchild!!

Happily, my car and I am in fairly good shape and can leave without much more effort than gassing up and filling the tires with air.  I'm patting myself on the back for this!  (Keeping healthy takes quite a bit of thought and effort!  Keeping the car in shape is also costly!)

The past few weeks since I've suspended this travel blog - unless I'm traveling - have been filled with quite a bit of work on my "relationship" book.  I'm pleased I made the right decision.  But at times I've thought wistfully of all the wonderful National Geographic Magazine  articles I've read and on which I've reported. There will be years for that, Lord willing!

Back to my list!. . .
